Hus No. 8 in Lech: Tradition meets enjoyment

Hus No. 8

A historic jewel in the heart of Lech

In the middle of the picturesque Lech am Arlberg stands the Hus No. 8, one of the oldest inns in the region and a living testimony to the traditional Walser architectural style. The building, which is over 300 years old and was first mentioned in documents in 1760, tells stories from times long past and makes the hearts of history and culture enthusiasts beat faster.

The history of Lech is deeply rooted in the settlement by the Walser colonists around the year 1300. They cleared the dense mountain forests of the Tannberg region and thus unconsciously created space for today's seemingly endless ski slopes. The Walser architectural style, characterized by wooden architecture and functional design, gives the village its unmistakable charm.

Hus No. 8 is closely linked to the Walch family. After Sebastian Walch acquired the property in 1909, his daughter-in-law Filomena Walch had a particularly strong influence on the house. In 1927, she opened a general store that still enjoys a legendary reputation in Lech today. Filomena was a woman with impressive business acumen, whose influence can still be felt in Hus No. 8. Her legacy is proudly carried on by the Walch family, and visitors sense the authenticity and warmth that this historic house exudes.
